Tigers vs Orioles Live Streaming:
The Baltimore Orioles and the Detroit Tigers square off in game one of their three game MLB set from Comerica Park on Tuesday.
The Tigers are 4-9 after the loss and the Orioles are actually a little bit worse at 5-11. They are currently fourth in the AL East, ahead only of the pathetic Tampa Bay Rays. It’s early, but being 8.5 games behind the Red Sox already with the Yankees and Blue Jays ahead of you, and I’m willing to say the Orioles are already done.
The Orioles are in Detroit on Tuesday, starting off a three game series against the Tigers. Detroit got rained out on Saturday in New York and then had the double header on Sunday rained out as well.
They also have the day off on Monday, so they will not have played since Friday when they appear on Tuesday. This will mean a rested bullpen, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the batters timing is a little off. They have lost five in a row and are coming off an 8-6 loss to the Yankees on Friday.
The Baltimore Orioles come into this one rested after having their series finale with Boston postponed on Monday, leaving Baltimore’s losing streak at 3 games after their 3-1 loss on Sunday. In the loss, Manny Machado recorded Baltimore’s lone RBI, going 1 for 4 with a double. Craig Gentry and
Trey Mancini each added base hits as well to round out the offensive output for the O’s in the loss. Dylan Bundy fell to 0-2 after giving up all three runs, one earned, on seven hits while walking a pair and striking out six. Andrew Cashner will be slated to start the opener and is 1-1 with a 2.50 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cashner is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts against Detroit.
The Detroit Tigers come into this one well-rested as well, not having played since Friday after being rained out of their series on Saturday and Sunday with the Yankees. The last time the Tigers took the field, their losing streak got pushed to 5 games after an 8-6 loss to the Yanks in the series opener. James McCann went 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs
, while Jeimer Candelario added a solo homer. Victor Martinez went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI while Jose Iglesias matched that mark at the dish with a double and an RBI of his own to finish off the scoring for Detroit in the loss. Miguel Cabrera and Nick Castellanos each logged a pair of base hits,
while Dixon Machado added a base knock of his own in the losing effort for the Tigers. Mike Fiers took the loss, falling to 1-1 after giving up six runs, five earned, on eight hits while striking out four over 5.2 innings of work. Francisco Liriano will start game one and is 1-1 with a 2.13 ERA and 7 strikeouts this season. In his career, Liriano is 2-5 with a 4.14 ERA and 54 strikeouts against Baltimore.
Baltimore is 23-52 in their last 75 road games and 9-30 in their last 39 games overall while the under is 6-0 in their last 6 games against the AL Central. Detroit is 17-50 in their last 67 games overall and 2-7 in their last 9 games against the AL East while the over is 26-9-1 in their last 36 home games.
While Detroit comes in the more rested of the two teams, Baltimore is a much better team than their record would indicate, the offense just isn’t there to start the season.
Liriano has looked good this season, but so has Cashner, and between the two pitchers, Cashner threw a complete game shutout with 11 Ks in his lone career start against Detroit, while Liriano has struggled against Baltimore so I’ll side with the O’s as the team to end their losing ways in this one.
